All are welcome for this simple practice of meditation & prayer. No specific faith tradition required.

A comfortable, relaxing & grounding pranayama and Nidra (guided meditation) experience. This is a perfect relaxing, self-care evening, done lying down or in any comfortable position. The class with gently fade off after resting, so you can go right to sleep if you choose.

Interfaith Gathering with Shelley

Meets once per month on Sunday

October 29th: 3:30 - 4:30 : ALL SOULS DAY

Join Shelley for this opportunity to gather and connect with the month's theme. This will include music, readings from various faith traditions/ philosophies, discussion and simple meditation. All faith traditions (or no faith tradition) are welcome here.

This will be a very special gathering for All Soul's Day. Please bring a photo or memento of a loved one (s) who have passed (to be returned to you).  We will create an altar of remembrance, honor and celebration.

Ages 16 and up.

Very gentle & restorative yoga with Live Music

Next class: 11/12, 3:30-4:45

Spirit Mind Body Center, Southington YMCA

Join Shelley and Steve (Shelley's husband!) for a grounding and relaxing yoga practice, including VERY gentle and restorative postures, all done on the floor. Includes a sooting range of live guitar music and vocals, with emphasis on some of your favorite "Woodstock era" music. A large bolster is required for this class.

Support for End of Life Conversations
In partnership with the Y, we are committed to supporting the physical, mental and spiritual health of all members, throughout all stages of life. We are offering a safe space for discussion around the completion of the life cycle and the certainty of our passing. Anyone, at any stage of life is welcome to join this discussion.     
This 4 week series will be specific to end of life conversations. We recommend that you attend the entire series. Conversations will include (as time permits):
   * discussion of thoughts, feelings and fears around our own passing, or the passing of our loved ones
   * exploration and sharing of individual beliefs of what happens to us after death
   * discussion/ sharing of obituaries and "ethical wills” (what we hope to leave behind)
   * brainstorming of logistics: advanced directives, planning resources, what should I do with my things? small steps of preparation 
   * hopes around end of life celebrations and memorialization
   * Clarifying our wishes for end of life and opening conversations loved ones about those wishes
This will not include any legal or medical advice.

Topics in Buddhism:

Join Shelley for a brief seated meditation, reading and discussion, based on the core themes of Buddhist philosophy. Together, we will explore topics such as the mind, suffering & relief of suffering, impermanence, compassion & kindness. Buddhist philosophy can be compatible with any faith tradition (or no faith tradition). All are welcome.

Bhagavad Gita Discussion Group with Crystal & Shelley:

In person discussion based on the wisdom of the beloved Bhagavad Gita. This workshop will include a brief centering, breathwork and meditation component. $10 for Y Members and $30 for non-members.

October 27th-29th

We will be staying in a beautifully renovated 1790's farmhouse set on 2 acres of land.  This property has been used as a bed and breakfast. It is located in the Hudson Valley which offers natural beauty, hiking, history, and relaxation near the quaint town of New Paltz, and the Mohonk Reserve in the Shawangunk Mountains.

As is customary for most of our retreats, we will be creating and serving delicious healthy meals and Steve will be accompanying us with his musical talents.
